Visit Nyanga

Nyanga is Zimbabwe’s highland escape. It has cool mountain air, pine forests, rivers full of trout and waterfalls around almost every bend. Climb Mount Nyangani, the country’s highest peak, or stand at World’s View and look out over the plains below. You can also watch Mtarazi Falls drop into the Honde Valley, or walk among the stone terraces of the Ziwa Ruins. Then stay a night or two with local lodges, guides and craftspeople who know these hills best.

Best time to visit

All year. April to October is dry, with clear skies for hiking, though June and July nights can be frosty. November to March is green, and the waterfalls are at their fullest.

Getting there

Nyanga is in Manicaland, about 270 km from Harare. Take the Mutare road to Rusape, then turn north-east on the A14 to Nyanga. From Mutare it is about 100 km via Juliasdale. Kombis and buses run daily from Harare and Mutare to Nyanga town. A car is best for reaching the national park and the waterfalls.
